VENUE
HYCROFT MANOR
1489 McRae Avenue

The Hycroft Manor is a magnificent Edwardian Mansion in Shaughnessy. It was originally built for Alexander Duncan McRae, a leading politician and businessman in Western Canada at the turn of the twentieth century. The Hycroft had a reputation as an elite party house of Vancouver, where all the who's who of the 20s and 30s gathered, and it was considered an honour and a delight to be invited. The McRae Family gave Hycroft to the Federal Government for one dollar in 1942. The Federal Department of Veterans' Affairs used it as a convalescent hospital for war veterans. Since 1960, it was acquired and restored by The University Women's Club of Vancouver.
